Cookies are at the heart of Choowee (of course they are!) but one thing I have always believed is that they can do far more than satisfy your sweet tooth… they can bring people together, spark creativity, and (believe it or not) create moments of connection that stick - the proof’s in the pudding… or in this case, cookie dough.
That belief is exactly what cooked up the creation of The Cookie Project.
So, what is The Cookie Project?
In short? It’s Choowee’s community initiative - built to help schools, charities, and community groups roll up their sleeves and get baking.
The Cookie Project gives groups the equipment and support they need to run hands-on baking workshops (the kind where there’s flour in your hair, laughter in the room, and something really delicious to show for it at the end).
Because baking together isn’t just fun - it builds confidence, sparks creativity, and gives those taking part an easy way to connect!
Why we do it you ask…
Choowee started in the kitchen, and honestly… it’s where I most certainly feel the most at home.
Over time, I’ve got see just how powerful baking can be when you do it together. Pop a few people around a table, add a shared goal (and maybe a little chocolate), and suddenly you’ve got:
- connection through creativity
- moments of teamwork (and the occasional friendly “who nicked the whisk?”)
- confidence building, one bake at a time
- memories people take home with them
Yes, it’s cookies, but it’s also community, kindness, and the accomplishment… that oh so rewarding “I made this!” feeling.
How it works (and what we bring)
All we need to get the workshop rolling, is a space to bake and an oven to do the baking…and do not worry, we’ll bring the rest.
I’m talking baking equipment, tools, ingredients, the lot - everything needed to make the workshop feel easy, and most importantly FUN.
And because we’re Choowee, we’re all about those thoughtful little touches too, the kind that make everyone feel like a baker for the day.
A big thank you to our sponsor
The Cookie Project simply wouldn’t be possible without the brilliant sponsor who backs it, drum roll please for… Relo.
Their support helps us provide the equipment that turns an idea into a real-life workshop, from mixing bowls and baking trays to measuring scales, mixers, and all the behind-the-scenes bits that make the cookie magic happen.
And it’s not just us that feel that way, Guy Moore, Sales Director at Relo, says: ‘The Cookie Project combines the joy and fun of baking with the practical achievement of experiencing new skills and with the tastiest of results. That this greatly enriching experience can be brought to so many is a fantastic opportunity and will only imbue all those that take part with an immense sense of happiness and satisfaction’.
What’s coming next for The Cookie Project
Our next Cookie Project workshop is officially in the diary, and it feels like a special one. On 30th April, we’ll be heading back to Cambridge Park Academy, where our very first Cookie Project workshop took place.
I cannot wait to get back in the kitchen with this lovely bunch, and get to see firsthand how baking can foster independence, creativity and teamwork.
Stay tuned for more in the coming weeks… The Cookie Project is on the move!
