Meet the baker, and Choowee maker

Sit down with Sian Potter, the brain, baker and magic-maker behind The Choowee Cookie Company. Discover how the company began, and where Sian's dedication to small-batch baking came from.

From family traditions

Baking has always been at the heart of Sian's home; from her childhood to recent years that have seen her very own chocolate chips grow. For Sian baking has become a family tradition, one which began with cherished moments spent in the kitchen with her Grandma. Experimenting with ingredients, and creating new and exciting recipes from scratch, that time spent in Grandma's kitchen was really where the magic of Choowee Cookie was born. Combining hard work, creativity and a love to produce something truly delicious. To this day there is something so special about indulging in the homemade treats made by Sian's hand; full of love and care, they always seem to taste better. Today, Sian is already passing that passion down to her own children, sharing with them the joys of baking, just as she did when she was young.

"To everyone who has supported us along the way - thank you, from the bottom of our hearts."

Sian Potter

Doughy and delicious

The journey of The Choowee Cookie Company started in 2019, completely by accident. Sian was trying to save money for a family trip to Disney World, Florida, under no illusion that saving enough money for such a trip would be no small feat. But then, something unexpected happened. Having baked a batch of cookies for colleagues at work, as she often did, after tasting the cookies, someone casually suggested, "You should sell these!" That simple remark sparked an idea that would soon grow into something much bigger than Sian ever imagined. Firing up the oven in her spare time, Choowee took shape. Selling cookies at small local events, and delivering orders to neighbours and cookie-lovers, every penny earned went straight into a savings account marked for that long-awaited Disney trip. Slowly but surely, the dream was becoming more attainable.

The food of love

Fast forward three years, and a lot has changed. The world faced a global pandemic, Sian's family welcomed a second child, and her life took on a completely new direction. The Choowee Cookie Company is no longer just a side hustle - it’s a full-time job. And while she says she's no Mr. Kipling, her small business is now providing a modest but meaningful income for the family. Every month taking the Potter's closer to making that Disney dream a reality.Something Sian has a little something to say about... "We would never have made it this far without the unwavering support and generosity of our local community. Their kindness has been overwhelming, and it’s something we will never forget."
