Progress on the Bakery Build...

Progress on the Bakery Build...

By Sian Potter

Just over a year ago the realisation that we needed more room was a really scary thought. To have to commit to renting a space would have been a huge cost for the business and one that would affect how we operated. Just when we were about to sign for an amazing space, the universe gave us a sign (the trailer not fitting through the doors) and we stopped to think again about other ways we could create more space for us to flourish.

Fast forward a year and we bought an amazing house, right on top of the wolds that is a serious ‘doer-upper’! This special place will not only be an amazing place to bring up our children, but it also has an outbuilding that would be the perfect place to turn into my dream bakery.

So, after being in our new house for almost 3 months now, we are very close to having a bakery that will soon be crammed full of cookies! Within the next few weeks, the roof will be going on, and the windows and doors will be going in. We've used a really lovely builder (Liam) who has worked alongside Chris, Dad and my brother to build a lovely space that is almost too good to be a bakery!

The work inside is where the nitty gritty thinking starts. I need to really understand where I want things such as the ovens, the cooling racks, the kettle (priority). Things that seem so trivial but actually so important because how we operate in this new bakery can be the difference between being productive and not.

In my head, I have a pinterest board where my bakery sits and I can see what its going to look like, but I’m not very good at putting that into motion. I know I want it to look like a cute kitchen but in reality, it will still be a commercial kitchen, so I’m trying to look beyond the stainless-steel benches to see cute wall tiles, worktops and kitchen cupboards that look like the country kitchen I love. It will be hard to find a balance, but I want you guys to feel like you’re in the bakery with me when you watch our videos and content. Because this business is built on people, people who have made this what it is and what it continues to be.

Ill be posting lots of content about the build and I would love for you to come along with us, so watch this space and keep following the progress!

Thank you all

Sian x
